El error que hunde la mayoría de las solicitudes de familiares
La tarjeta de familiar no se concede solo por el vínculo familiar. Depende de que el ciudadano de la UE ejerza realmente sus derechos en España: registrado y trabajando, como autónomo, estudiando o con medios suficientes y cobertura sanitaria.
Si el ciudadano de la UE no ha resuelto su propio certificado, o lo tiene pero no puede acreditar su situación hoy, la solicitud del familiar falla por muy sólido que sea el certificado de matrimonio. Empieza siempre por el ciudadano de la UE.

Medios: qué significa “suficientes” en la práctica
El reglamento prohíbe expresamente fijar una cantidad, y cada caso se valora por separado. En la práctica las oficinas toman como referencia la pensión no contributiva, así que estas son las cifras con las que conviene planificar.

Cifras solo de referencia, basadas en el doble de la pensión no contributiva de 2026. No son un umbral legal: lo que valora la oficina es de dónde sale el dinero, lo estable que es y si encaja con tus circunstancias reales. Pídenos confirmarlas el día que solicites.

- Si eres estudiante: matrícula, cobertura sanitaria y declaración de medios suficientes
- Si vives de tus medios: documentación bancaria y seguro médico privado
- Justificante de pago de la tasa (modelo 790, código 012)
Familiar — tarjeta de cinco años
- Formulario de solicitud (EX-19) cumplimentado y firmado
- Pasaporte, copia completa de todas las páginas
- Certificado y documento de identidad del ciudadano de la UE
- Certificado de empadronamiento, conjunto con el ciudadano de la UE si convivís
- Certificado de matrimonio, pareja registrada, nacimiento o prueba de dependencia, apostillado y con traducción jurada
- Prueba de la situación actual del ciudadano de la UE: contrato, nóminas, autónomo o medios
- Cobertura sanitaria de toda la unidad familiar
- Tres fotografías tamaño pasaporte y justificante de pago de la tasa
Sobre los matrimonios extranjeros: un matrimonio celebrado fuera a menudo debe inscribirse en el Registro Civil español antes de servir para la tarjeta de familiar, y es un procedimiento aparte con sus propios plazos. Es el motivo más frecuente de que estos expedientes se atasquen. Dinos dónde y cuándo os casasteis en la primera llamada, no después.

Conviene saberlo sobre la tarjeta permanente
El Tribunal Supremo ha establecido que, si la Administración no resuelve una tarjeta permanente de familiar en tres meses, se entiende concedida. No se aplica a la primera tarjeta, pero significa que una solicitud de permanente sin respuesta no es un callejón sin salida, y conviene asesorarse antes de volver a solicitar sin más.

Familiar de ciudadano español: una vía aparte
Desde el reglamento de extranjería de 2025, los familiares de españoles ya no solicitan por el régimen comunitario. Tienen su propio régimen, con su lista de quién puede acogerse y sus propias ventajas.

Thank you to the team at Nodisea, especially Francisco and Dahianna. We are from Canada and applied in Spain for our Digital Nomad Visa. Our application was submitted May 31, and we received approval June 26; there was only one clarification, for sworn translation of the relevant documents. That is approximately 18 business days.
I highly recommend this team as they have a very structured process for collaboration via Drive, email, and WhatsApp. They maintained organization throughout the process but were also readily available for questions and clarifications. This structure and organization gave us confidence and I believe contributed to the timely resolution of our application.

Navigating the Spanish bureaucracy is very tough and patience-testing, especially for a foreigner, and each interaction with Francisco was both informative and reassuring, especially during challenging moments, which made the process immensely easier.
Even after we have successfully secured our residencies, we are grateful to have learned about Nodisea and look forward to maintaining our relationship with them and using their services during our residency, as they have proven to be a reliable and trustworthy source of support.
